On behalf of the Control Yuan, Members Dr. Louis R. Chao and Dr. Michael H. Leu left for Madang, Papua New Guinea (PNG) to attend the 21st Australasian and Pacific Ombudsman Regional Conference (APOR) from August 27 to September 5, 2003. During this trip, they also visited the Ombudsman Commission of PNG, the Office of National Ombudsman and the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines. Besides, they inspected the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore, the Trade Mission of the Republic of China (on Taiwan) in PNG, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines. After giving an opening speech to the APOR, the PNG Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare (4th from left, front row) had a group picture taken to mark the occasion.
