President & Mrs. Fredrick F. Chien of the Control Yuan were invited by former U.S. President Gerald R. Ford to attend the 21st World Forum sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) in Beaver Creek, Colorado, U.S.A. from June 20-23, 2002. The AEI World Forum is a very important international conference of its kind, distinguished for its emphasis on open dialogue and participants of international leaders from government, politics, business, finance and the academy. During the Forum, plenary and small-group discussions explored the most urgent issues facing the United States and the world community. In addition to traditional sessions, the 2002 World Forum particularly focused on far-ranging assessments of the military, economic, and social developments following the catastrophic terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.
