The Control Yuan Members Dr. Louis R. Chao and Dr. Yang-Sun Chou left for Stockholm, Sweden from June 8 to 13, 2009 to participate in the 9th World Conference of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and 200 Years Anniversary of the Swedish Parliamentary Ombudsman. During their attendance in Stockholm, on behalf of the Control Yuan of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Dr. Chao presented the First Grade Control Yuan Medal to Mr. William P. Angrick II at Taipei Representative’s Residence in Stockholm to honor his great achievements in the cooperation and exchange of international ombudsmanship and accomplishments in bilateral relationships between the United Statse and the Republic of China (Taiwan). Mr. Angrick was elected as President of IOI in 2004 and has been the ombudsman in Iowa for 31 years since 1978. He is an important leader of international ombudsmen institute and has made great contributions in protection of human rights and development of international ombudsmanship. His visit and views on ombudsmanship and EU constitution with related authorities in Taiwan contribute significantly to us.
