President Wang Chien-Shien of the Control Yuan met Vice President Dr. Rafael Espada of the Republic of Guatemala on October 7, 2009. They exchanged opinions about the supervision system and audit powers of both nations in a harmonious atmosphere. Vice President Espada made great efforts in Guatemala to enhance a clean government and establish a transparent committee so as to supervise the operation of the government administration. He indicated that Guatemala financial supervision units are currently subordinated to the Ministry of Finance, which is not an independent organ like the Ministry of Audit in the Republic of China on Taiwan. Vice President Espada said he will take the supervision system and audit powers of the Control Yuan as a model for the reference of Guatemala to supervise the administrative and financial system in the future. Meanwhile, Vice President Espada was thinking about an idea to establish an independent organ in Guatemala to promote a clean and disciplinary government. President Wang spoke highly of Maya civilization and also hoped that he could have the opportunity to visit the magnificent heritage in Guatemala in the future. After the visiting, Vice President Espada and President Wang took a picture to mark the occasion.
