The Control Yuan is a type of national human rights institutions are currently recognized by the international community, and we are determined to take responsibility for human rights protection. In fact, more than 50% of the cases investigated involve human rights issues. Considering the importance of the work, the Control Yuan has set up Human Rights Protection Committee in 2000 and further established the National Human Rights Commission in 2020. After the enactment of "Act to Implement the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economics, Social and Cultural Rights" in 2009, "Enforcement Act of Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women" in 2011, "Implementation Act of the Convention on the Rights of the Child" and "Act to Implement the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" in 2014, the human rights standards listed under the acts become essential legal grounds for our Members to monitor government action, safeguard the human rights of our people and promote human rights ideals.
